PrivateQuick answer
Can I edit existing text in the PDF?
Not directly. This editor adds new annotations and text on top — it doesn't change the underlying text. To rewrite original text, convert the PDF to Word first, edit there, then re-export as PDF.
About this tool
Edit a PDF Online
For marking up contracts, scribbling on a brief, or filling in forms that didn't come with text fields.
Edit PDF gives you a lightweight editor that runs in your browser. You can draw freehand, add text on top of any page, choose colors, and export the result as a new PDF.
When you'd reach for this
- Filling in a printed PDF form that wasn't built with fillable fields.
- Marking up a contract with notes before sending it back.
- Adding a quick correction on a page without redoing the whole document.
- Drawing a signature or initial on a single page.
How it works

Open the PDF
Drop the file you want to mark up — pages appear in the editor.
- 2
Draw or type
Use the pen for freehand notes or click to add text boxes anywhere.
- 3
Save your edits

Why people use it
No Acrobat install
Everything runs in the browser. No accounts, no plugins.
Flatten on export
Annotations become part of the page, so recipients can't toggle them off.
Private
The PDF stays on your device the whole time.
Real situations it fits
Filling printed forms
Type into a PDF form that wasn't designed to be editable.
Annotating a brief
Mark up a doc and send it back with notes attached.
